Pedestrian was Struck and Killed by a Vehicle in San Gabriel

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at about 10:00 p.m. in San Gabriel. Zhong Yi Cheng, 62, was on a walk when he was struck by a 2012 Honda driven by Michael Munoz of San Gabriel. Munoz exited his car, examined Cheng, who appeared to have a massive head injury, and called 911. Cheng was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident. The intersection at which at the accident took place, at San Gabriel Boulevard just north of Sheffield Road, was not a four-way stop (there were only stop signs on one of the streets) and was not well lit. Residents of the area believe that the San Gabriel Boulevard is too dangerous to cross without crosswalks.
